Our guiding principle is simple: AI ignites ideas; students own the learning.

  • AI-supported writing — Students use AI tools to brainstorm, enrich vocabulary and self-edit, while teachers guide them to compare AI suggestions with their own ideas and keep their writing authentically theirs.
  • AI-supported speaking — Read-aloud and pronunciation feedback tools allow repeated practice, building fluency and confidence.
  • E-learning platforms — Self-paced reading and learning platforms let students learn at their own level, with teachers using learning data to follow up.
  • AI literacy and ethics — Students are explicitly taught to protect privacy, verify information, respect copyright and uphold academic honesty.

In line with the EDB's Curriculum Framework of National Security Education in Hong Kong, related learning elements are naturally infused into our English curriculum:

  • Knowing our country and culture — Reading and writing tasks on Chinese festivals, landmarks, achievements and cultural stories; our Junior English Ambassador Project invites students to introduce Chinese culture in English.
  • Safety in daily life — Thematic units on food safety, health, the environment and cyber safety help students understand that national security is closely connected to everyday life.
  • Cyber and information literacy — Students learn to use the Internet and AI tools safely and responsibly, to verify information and to protect personal data.
  • Positive values — Law-abidingness, empathy, responsibility and national identity are promoted hand in hand with our 3C culture: Care, Character and Competence.

Through English, our students grow into a generation that is responsible, self-directed and proud of who they are.

English Ambassador Programme & Elite English Team

Lead in English, grow in confidence.

Selected students are trained as English Ambassadors and members of our Elite English Team. Ambassadors host recess activities, lead assemblies, greet visitors and support English events across the school, developing leadership, confidence and a strong sense of responsibility. The Elite English Team offers enrichment training in public speaking, creative writing and competition preparation, stretching our more able learners beyond the regular curriculum. Both programmes allow students to become role models who bring English alive for their schoolmates — a vivid expression of our vision to ignite potential and own one's growth.

English Wonderland

Where learning English feels like play.

English Wonderland transforms our campus into a joyful English-speaking space. Through themed games, interactive corners, storytelling sessions and hands-on challenges, students use English naturally and playfully outside the classroom. Activities are designed so that even our youngest learners can join with confidence, while more able students take the lead as helpers and hosts. By removing the fear of making mistakes, English Wonderland builds fluency, spontaneity and a genuine love of the language, reminding every child that English is not only a subject, but a language for fun, friendship and discovery.

Reading Workshop & Home Reading Programme

From learning to read, to reading to learn.

A Reading Workshop is held in every cycle, where teachers explicitly teach reading strategies and guide students through carefully selected texts. This is extended at home through our Home Reading Programme, in which students read regularly, keep reading records and share their favourite books with classmates and parents. Dolch Sight Words training supports our junior learners in building fluency and word recognition. Together, these initiatives help students move from "learning to read" to "reading to learn", nurturing lifelong readers who choose books willingly and set their own reading goals.

English Drama

Every child has a role to shine in.

Our English Drama programme brings language to life on stage. Students explore scripts, characters and emotions, practising pronunciation, intonation, gesture and teamwork as they rehearse towards a performance for schoolmates or parents. Drama offers a safe and playful space for students to speak up, take risks and discover talents they never knew they had. Beyond language gains in fluency and expressiveness, students build confidence, empathy and collaboration — learning that every role, on stage or backstage, matters. Selected students may also represent the school in inter-school drama events.

Happy English

Real friends, real English.

Happy English is a joint programme of eight Catholic diocesan primary schools in partnership with The Chinese University of Hong Kong. International exchange students visit to chat and play with our pupils, earning service-learning hours while our students enjoy authentic, face-to-face conversations with speakers from around the world. The eight participating schools also meet regularly for games and joint activities, allowing pupils to make new friends and use English across schools. Learning happens through genuine interaction rather than drilling, building confidence, cultural awareness and the joyful discovery that English truly connects people.

The Youth Forum

Speak up, and speak with purpose.

The Youth Forum gives our senior students an authentic platform to speak on issues that matter to them. Working in teams, students research a topic, organise their ideas, prepare speech notes and present their views in English before an audience, followed by questions and discussion. The experience develops critical thinking, information literacy, teamwork and public-speaking skills, while nurturing global and national awareness. Students learn to listen respectfully to different viewpoints and to express their own with clarity and courage — valuable preparation for secondary school and for responsible citizenship.

Project CEO

Read, reflect, record — and rise.

Project CEO is an online English reading platform for which every student receives a personal login. Pupils read a wide range of articles built around the five core values of Catholic education, answer comprehension questions and earn awards and certificates as they progress. The platform's read-aloud function lets students listen to model reading, while its recording and scoring features allow them to read aloud, receive instant feedback and improve their pronunciation and fluency. Learning at their own pace, students strengthen reading and speaking skills while reflecting on values such as truth, justice, love, life and family.

Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival (Solo Verse Speaking & Choral Speaking)

One voice, one stage, one proud school.

Each year our students take part in the Hong Kong Schools Speech Festival in both Solo Verse Speaking and Choral Speaking. Under the guidance of our English teachers and NET, students study their poems in depth, refining pronunciation, rhythm, intonation, facial expression and stage presence. Solo items build individual confidence and poise, while choral items demand precision, listening and teamwork as a whole class or team performs as one voice. Participation nurtures perseverance, an appreciation of English poetry, and the pride of representing the school on a public stage.

English Fun Day / Book Character Day

A whole school, a whole day of English.

These signature events turn English learning into a whole-school celebration. On English Fun Day, students rotate through game booths, quizzes and performances, using English throughout in a lively carnival atmosphere. Every Friday, the whole school communicates in English, with festive activities held to celebrate special occasions throughout the year. Both days strengthen the link between reading, imagination and communication, involve every level from P1 to P6, and create the shared happy memories that keep our English culture vibrant.

Overseas Learning Experiences (e.g. New Zealand Study Tour)

English beyond the classroom, beyond Hong Kong.

Our overseas learning experiences take English beyond the classroom and into the real world. On the New Zealand Study Tour, students attend lessons in a local school, live and learn alongside overseas peers, and use English for genuine daily communication — asking questions, making friends and exploring a new culture. Beyond language gains in listening and speaking confidence, students develop independence, adaptability, cultural sensitivity and self-care skills. They return with broadened horizons and a renewed motivation for learning, and share their experiences with schoolmates upon their return.

Shine Like Stars

Effort recognised, growth celebrated.

Shine Like Stars is our recognition scheme celebrating effort, improvement and achievement in English. Students are commended for outstanding work, active participation, consistent reading, or notable progress — with their names, writing or performances displayed on our English board, in assemblies and on the school website. By recognising not only top results but also perseverance and growth, the scheme motivates learners of all abilities and reinforces a positive learning culture. Every child is given the chance to shine, in line with our vision of igniting potential and owning one's growth.

Guided by the school vision "Ignite Potential, Own Your Growth" (啟迪潛能‧自主盡責), the English Panel sparks every child's love of language and empowers them to take charge of their own learning journey. We ignite curiosity through joyful, authentic English experiences; we help students own their growth through goal-setting, note-taking, self-editing and reflection — so that every learner grows in Care, Character and Competence.

What We Do

School-based Curriculum

Built on the EDB English Language Curriculum Guide (Primary 1–6) and delivered through our school-based General English booklets, our curriculum makes learning clear, purposeful and immediately usable in real life.

Tiered Learning

Learning tasks are tiered to cater for learner diversity, with an extended version for more able classes, so that every student is appropriately challenged and can progress at his or her own pace.

Note-taking & Self-directed Learning

Note-taking skills are explicitly taught in a designated unit at every level each year. Together with self-checklists and reflection tasks, students learn to plan, organise and review their own learning — a key skill for secondary school.

Reading Culture

A Reading Workshop is held in every cycle, supported by our Home Reading Programme and Dolch Sight Words training. Students choose their own books and set personal reading goals, moving from "learning to read" to "reading to learn".

An English-rich Environment

The English Wonderland, English Ambassadors, English Talent Show and NET-supported activities give students daily opportunities to speak English with joy and confidence.

Learning with AI

One AI-supported unit is arranged each term at every level, alongside explicit teaching of digital and AI literacy — because AI ignites ideas, but students own the learning.

Values & National Identity

Positive values, Chinese culture and national identity are naturally infused into our themes, reading texts and learning tasks, nurturing students who are confident in English and rooted in their own culture.
